Ireland Travel

For our 50th wedding anniversary (2015) we traveled to Ireland to spend a month with our son Eric and his family: Mary, Rachel and Ciara.  I’ll be sharing photos and events as time goes by.  Picassa Web Ireland Pictures  or https://photos.google.com/

We had a wonderful visit with our Ireland family and their extended family in April, 2017. Always an exciting time, this time hearing John Prine and Mary Black in concert, and visiting the Aran Islands: http://www.aranislands.ie/

I also started a journal after the fact. The address will be http://www.mytripjournal.com/IrelandTravels2015

This will be a wonderful way to log our adventure.

IMG_0927I’ve decided I love the coastline, and Mary and Eric really showed it to us.  The Aran Islands are in the background.  We are both so relaxed and smiling.

IMG_0967These three pictures are of our wonderful Ireland family.

No pictures of the cats.

The pix on the left is the Giant’s Causeway.

The picture on the left was a wonderful family dinner out. The picture below is our favorite dog. She still needs to learn not to bark at every stranger.  I miss her. Really, I do.

This is our kids home, outside of Dublin.  Its a lovely home…comfortable and spacious.  We felt very relaxed there, and our kids made us feel right at home.

We could walk to the light rail Luas and go in to Dublin in a flash. “Irish” translations could be seen everywhere.

IMG_0449In one of our jaunts into Dublin, we came across this painting on the wall. As you know, Ireland voted to support same sex marriage this year ! What a blessing.

We had the opportunity to go to Liverpool with Eric, and went on the Magical Mystery Tour. Lots of great information, and some great pictures too.

As I mentioned, I love the coastlines, and we saw a lot of it.  To the left is the Cliffs of Moher. The other views are more of beautiful coasts.  The bottom picture reflects a storm brewing.  As the family was planning to walk the suspended bridge, a very serious wind and rain storm hit. They made it across safely.  We had wonderful weather, all things considered.

IMG_0781Hook Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse in the world, on the southern coast of Ireland.

This sign needs no explanation.

This was one of our greatest field trips to the Kilmainham Gaol in Dublin. David gave us a GREAT tour, and its a pretty amazing place.
